Energising Development (EnDev) is an international flagship programme for providing energy access. 675 million people worldwide live without electricity and about 2.3 billion people lack access to clean cooking solutions. This has a dramatic impact on social development, economic opportunities, health, education and the environment. Thus, EnDev’s involvement focuses on providing access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy as a means to deliver social, economic, and environmental change.

GIZ and UNHCR jointly implement the Global Programme “Support to UNHCR in facilitating the operationalisation of the Global Compact on Refugees in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus” (SUN) which was commissioned by BMZ in 2018. The programme seeks to support UNHCR in its role as facilitator of the operationalisation of the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) in selected refugee contexts and sectors. The Global Programme is part of the German Special Initiative “Tackling the Root Causes of Displacement, (Re-)integrating Refugees”.

The Sport for Development in Africa (S4DA) Regional Project uses sport and physical activities as a tool to promote gender equality by empowering women and girls and by fostering positive masculinity in boys and men. The application of safeguarding principles ensures that activities take place in an environment that is free from harm and abuse creating safe spaces for all.
